Community News For The Wethersfield Edition
Apr 10, 2018Nick first started experiencing symptoms two years ago. At the time, he didn't understand what was happening or why he was feeling the way he did. After doctor's visits and numerous tests, Nick was diagnosed with Crohn's disease two weeks before his 10th birthday. Nick had never heard of the disease before. He was upset and sad. He felt different from other kids his age.Nick's mother Michele immediately signed up the family for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's Take Steps walk to be held months after his diagnosis. When it came time for the Take Steps Walk, Nick's family and friends -- 48 people in total -- formed the Crohn's Crushers team. Nick makes the best of his situation and, for this, he is an inspiration to others. Nick plays soccer and basketball, acts in theater, enjoys Boy Scouts, and loves to ride his bike. The Crohn's Crushers team will participate in this year's Greater Hartford Take Steps Walk. The walk will take place on Sunday, May 20, at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
